WHAT IS AN ENDOGYNAECOLOGIST?
Endometriosis, a complex and often debilitating medical condition, poses numerous challenges for women in treatment and recognition. This disorder occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of it, leading to painful symptoms such as pelvic pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, and fertility issues. One of the central challenges is the diagnostic delay and the lack of awareness among medical professionals and the general public. The subtle nature of symptoms and the normalisation of menstrual pain can lead to misdiagnosis or dismissal of women’s complaints.
Dr Dan has a particular interest and specialty in diagnosing and treating endometriosis. He has seen many women walk through his doors with years of undiagnosed pain and frustration, and has helped them walk out to a better way of life. Endometriosis should not be ignored, and while there is no cure for this condition, there are ways to manage and treat it.
Dr Dan approaches his patient’s care with a passionate commitment to achieving the best possible outcome. By uniting his expertise with other allied professionals, he forms part of Liverpool Hospital’s Complex Pelvic Surgery Multidisciplinary team who meet monthly to evaluate complex upcoming cases in-depth for an optimal resolution.
When complex pelvic surgery is necessary, Dr Dan will refer patients to the right specialists – a Gynaecological Oncologist, Colorectal Surgeon or Urologist. He’ll arrange an additional high-level laparoscopic gynaecologist in more complicated cases for optimal results. Dr Dan works with expert Anaesthetists for smooth pain management throughout treatment.
