PELVIC ADHESIOLYSIS
Adhesions are bands of scar tissue that can form between two normally separate surfaces.
These adhesions affect the reproductive organs and can cause a great deal of pain, discomfort, and even fertility issues. Adhesion formation is a common problem among women with endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, post-surgical complications, or uterine surgeries.
Treatment generally consists of medications to reduce inflammation and pain. However, for severe adhesions, Pelvic Adhesiolysis surgery may be considered.
Pelvic Adhesiolysis is a minimally-invasive procedure, usually done laparoscopically, that breaks up and realises the abnormal band of tissue between structures. This procedure has been shown to be a safe and effective treatment option, significantly improving comfort and quality of life.
Recovery times from Pelvic Adhesiolysis vary depending on the complexity of the surgery. Most patients experience an improvement within two weeks of surgery, however, there may be some residual discomfort in the following weeks. This pain can be managed with pain relief medications.
